Boiler

VFT Built by H. Holt at Hull
Fuel: Coal, Pressure: 150 psi, Grate area: 0.29 sqft, Heating area: 7 sqft, Output: 55 lbs/hr,
10" dia X 25" high Steel barrel. 36 X 3/4" dia Steel tubes. Welded steel ,expanded tubes construction,
non-condensing, hand pump, injector, whistle,
Operates in puffer mode, with a converging-diverging funnel with a 60mm throat, which aims to maximise the draught.

Engine

Double-acting single. 2 1/4" X 3 1/2"

Stephenson valve gear.
Overhung crank with timing belt drive from the crankshaft to the output shaft with a 2:1 speed increase. Needle roller bearings are used successfully (so far) for the big and little ends and for the valve eccentrics. Plummer blocks are used for the main bearings. A mechanical lubricator injects oil into the HP steam, and wick/capillary action lubrication for the cross head. Cruising at 150 rpm engine speed, with double this for the propeller.
