Hull

Open Launch. Construction: Clinker, mahogany on steamed oak frames, copper fa.

LOA: 18' 0", Beam: 5' 6", Draft: 1' 10",
Small foredeck with stowage under. Straight stem and transom stern. Six seats, tiller and wheel steering, max speed 5-6 knots. Varnished topsides, primed and antifouled below waterline.

Boiler

Illingworth type WT Built 1977 by Everson & Sons Ltd.
Fuel: Propane, Pressure: 120 psi, Output: 240 lbs/hr,
Ecc driven plunger fp with fine control suction, discharging through air bottle. Hand fp. Kcond. No6 size. Steam superheater and fwh coils, vertical centre drum of seamless boiler quality steel 19" diameter x .3/8" wall thickness with flat ends stayed by 4 x 1" boiler quality tie bolts, expanded into this are 34 x 18 gauge copper tubes, stainless steel double skinned casing 22" diameter x 3' 2" high, filled with lagging material. Calor size 1 209 1-1 "target" type burner. A fail safe thermostatic manually operated device safeguards against unburned gas discharge. 25 gal fresh water feed tank. Provision for two propane gas cylinders stored in forepeak, coupled for quick changeover. Range approximately five hours steaming per cylinder. Large whistle fitted. First steamed August 1977

Cast iron slipper columns, two displacement lubricators, 300 rpm max. Reconditioned by Everson & Sons Ltd in 1977. Max speed 5½ knots plus at 300 rpm.

History

Built new for E.A. Andrea-Jones, Parkstone. First steamed August 1977. Then Mr Lloyd, Poole and later in 1977, the Sioux Syndicate of Old Lymington. Acquired 1985 G StJohn, Cheltenham, then Ian Finlator, Temple Guiting in 1986. Laid up disused until February 2004 then acquired by John Puddy, Woolavington.
