LOA: 30' 0", LWL: 30' 0", Beam: 6' 0", Draft: 2' 6", Displacement: 5400 lbs.
The hull is being fitted out to allow cruising with a small galley, a head and a shower. The length allows reasonable room to sleep. There are tanks for blackwater, freshwater, and fuel. The cabin is removable so that the boat can be open, partly covered with a canopy, or with a forecabin. The hull is constructed from strip plank cedar, glassed inside and out. Keelson and deadwood are Jarrah. (Australian Hardwood.) Deck is planked with New Zealand Kauri. The concept is for the boat to be like a smaller version of the canal inspection boats or the Windermere boats.

The boiler has been built to conform to the ASME standards and has been built from certified materials. All welding has been done by certified welders and testing has been done by SGS M&I.

Engine

2 cyl compound. 3" + 5" X 3"

Based on the Leak design but modified to have piston valves for both cylinders.

History

The engine build was started in 2001, the boiler in about 2004, and the hull in about 2007. The hull was launched for the first time in February 2017 with boiler and engine in place. First steamed October 2018.
