built by owner of Pennsylvania black locust, with glass/epoxy inside & out. Stained & varnished - natural beauty of the locust shows. 2021 update - now 5 years of summer running without a problem (other than a persistent small leak that gets smaller every year - maybe this year ??)

lagged in stained/varnished black locust to match the hull

built using a Lodge & Shipley engine lathe which was built in 1906, refurbished by owner, weight 1475 lbs

History

started by buying the lathe in 2004, engine castings and boat plans in 2005. Engine complete and running on air 2008. Keel laid 2006, complete hull flipped 2012. Boat/engine/boiler delivered to Virginia autumn 2014. Picked up spring 2017, launched August 2017 (minor leaks. now repaired)/ First and only 3 trips very successful. All work was done only during summer months, at cottage, between bouts of entertaining family/guests.
